The Trans-Cultural Study Guide is simply a collection of thousands of questions, organized by topic, that help the inquisitive traveler begin to understand a new society. It was written by members of Volunteers in Asia who committed themselves to longer-term service and who needed to understand the new culture in which they found themselves.
The topics range from economics and politics to social structure, roles of women and men, religion and beliefs, music and art, food, education, communications, and health and welfare. It suggests a thousand different ways to start a meaningful conversation in a new culture.
